FAQ
Can I come to the farm and buy Retail directly?
Yes! We sell from our farm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as well as our amazing local Rogue Valley Growers markets on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays each week. We ask that you reserve the items you would like in advance and schedule your pick-up time and location via this calendar link. You will need to browse our shop first and make a list of which items you would like to purchase to reserve your pick-up order.
WHAT IS A CSA?
CSA stands for community-supported agriculture. Basically, it's a monthly box of seasonal, local meats delivered to your door. You are voting with your dollar to:
support local women-owned and operated family business
strengthen the local Rogue Valley food production system
commit to high quality, sustainable diet eating the most nutrient-dense proteins available
reduce your diet's carbon footprint
reduce the production of mass confinement agriculture facilities and big corporation meat producers that grow fast, cheap filler fed meats in overpopulated, stressful environments.
HOW DOES CSA WORK?
Simple! Just subscribe to our shop page. From there, provide your auto pay info for monthly debits and secure your box of heritage meats. You will receive the shipment (or select the pick-up option) of your meats based on the seasonal availability of a carefully selected, rotating variety of cuts each month.
WHY CHOOSE CSA?
With your CSA purchase, you are able to secure cost savings while eating clean, seasonal, local meats.
WHAT IS IN AN AVERAGE CSA BOX?
Depending on which box you purchase you can look forward to a fresh mix of the following selection: plain ground pork, pork shoulder roast, center-cut pork chops, sirloin pork chops, pork belly, pork shanks, pork cheek. Mixed boxes can contain 1 - 2 chickens and 3 - 10 lbs of the above description of pork cuts.
SMALL, LARGE, VS SHARES - WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
A small box = 3 lbs of pork.
A medium box = 6 lbs of pork.
And a large box = 10 lbs of pork.WILL I KNOW IN ADVANCE WHAT IS IN MY BOX?
Not always, we accept emails stating your preferences and we will do our best to accommodate. But CSA boxes will get whatever is the freshest and in stock. This changes monthly.
HOW DO I GET MY CSA BOX?
That’s up to you! You can pick up with a farm visit (by appointment), pick-up on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturdays at the Rogue Valley Growers Markets during the season, or we can hand deliver your box straight to your door! You will be able to set up your choice when you place your order.
WHEN DO I GET MY CSA BOX?
Delivery:
Subscription boxes and regular orders are hand-delivered by a member of our team at the end of each month. For example, if you place an order on the 7th of January, your 1st order will be delivered around January 30th, your 2nd order will be delivered around February 28th, your 3rd order will be delivered around March 31st, and so on.
A member of our team will contact you one week prior to delivery to ensure that someone will be able to collect your box on the day it is scheduled for delivery.
We appreciate your patience in receiving your order. This flexibility allows us to grow our farm sustainably.
Pick-Up:
You will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule your pick-up once your order is placed.
HOW ARE YOUR ANIMALS RAISED? WHAT ARE THEY FED?
Our animals are free-range, open on rotating pasture. They are fed local crops seasonally, in addition to the year-round diet of alfalfa, peas, flaxseed, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seed, sesame seed, wheat, oats, and quinoa.
ARE YOU ORGANIC?
Though we are not certified organic, we do strictly purchase organic pasture seed and organic feed.
ARE YOU CERTIFIED HUMANE?
We are currently following our Certified Humane Raised & Handled® Program compliance requirements and received approval from our 2019 inspection. We have dealt with unexpected delays due to Covid, so our current status is waiting for our annual inspection. We are tentatively scheduled for an inspection in early 2021 to gain official certification. In the meantime, farm visits are welcome.
CAN I VISIT THE FARM?
Absolutely! We welcome farm visit tours and farm pickups for retail purchase by appointment.
